Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Scienze del Mare
Il CoNISMa
CoNISMa – National Interuniversity Consortium for Marine Sciences was established on February 21, 1994, and currently consists of 36 Italian universities.
CoNISMa carries out research projects, training, and other scientific and applied activities in the field of Marine Sciences. It was established to promote collaboration not only among the member universities but also between universities, national and international public and private research organizations, local and regional authorities, and production facilities. It is organized into thematic networks equipped with structures and instrumental resources capable of bringing together expertise on specific issues, creating significant added value compared to the capabilities of individual entities.
The organizational structure of CoNISMa provides researchers with maximum freedom to express all their potential, offering them technical, logistical, and administrative tools that allow easy access to the resources needed for their activities. CoNISMa’s areas of activity range from basic research (biodiversity, ecosystems, physical system, extreme environments, climate change) to applied research (fisheries, aquaculture, maritime works), from development (biotechnologies, instrumental technological innovation) to technology transfer (reproduction and diets for fish species, bioremediation, planting of marine plant species, energy production from the sea), and to decision support (integrated management of the coastal zone, marine strategy).
He is registered with the National Research Registry (000441_EIRI).
Since 14 October 2011, it has been a member of the European Marine Board.
It is one of the 16 founding members of the “BLUE ITALIAN GROWTH National Technology Cluster” (CTN BIG).
The President of CoNISMa is a member of the Cluster’s Executive Board, while the Vice-President is a member of the Technical and Scientific Committee.
